Get action shots |
 |

|
 |
He pedals, he jumps, but you're still fumbling with your camera? Thanks to your HP digital camera's video feature,
you can record the action as it occurs, and print stills, so you always get the shot you want. There are so many
ways to use it, such as:

-
BMX biking: the perfect 360, captured in flight.

-
Basketball: never miss another slam dunk or breakaway.

-
Football: capture the moment when the receiver catches the pass.

-
Baseball: the pitch is right there, he swings, home run!

-
Water skiing: video your skier catching air over the wake or off a jump.

-
Horseback riding: your horse lover leads her champ over the highest jump.

Ready? Here's how to do it.

Choose your video settings |
 |

|
 |
For quality 4" x 6" prints from video, shoot your video using the VGA video setting. Using the lower resolution
QVGA setting will reduce file size, which is good for e-mail, but will not produce the best prints. To make your
choice, select Capture Menu>Video Quality.

Record video using your digital camera |
 |

This example shows the HP Photosmart R927 digital camera.
|
 |
You can catch all the action on video and pick the perfect shots later. HP video print technology can capture
VGA video up to 30 frames per second. Every one of those seconds could be the perfect shot. Start by recording
a video.

-
Position yourself with a clear shot of your subject. Ideally, avoid the back of people's heads, passers-by,
etc. Also, try to minimize zooming in and out. Consider using a tripod to keep your camera steady.

-
When you're ready, press and release the Video button to begin recording.

-
Press and release the Video button to stop recording. The total length of video you're able to capture
will depend on the size of memory card you're using.

NOTE: Your flash is deactivated when capturing video, so shoot during daylight hours or under other bright
conditions.

Compose your video prints |
 |

|
 |
While viewing your footage, imagine which stills will be the most interesting. Mentally break the screen into
thirds horizontally and vertically, and capture shots that are slightly off center. This composition trick makes
photos more compelling.

-
After you record a video clip, your camera will display it in Instant Review.

-
Another way to review a video clip is to press the Live View/Playback button
until an arrow appears in the upper right corner of the display.

-
Scroll through your videos and photos. When you do this, video clips will play automatically.

-
To pause a clip, press the Menu/OK button. Then you can use the scroll button
to move through individual frames.

-
To resume Live View, press the Live View/Playback
button.

|

Save individual frames as photos |
 |

|
 |
After reviewing your footage, you can show the play-by-play by capturing several stills in succession. Follow
these steps for extracting frames from your video:

-
During playback, press Menu/OK.

-
Use the scroll button to see individual frames.

-
Press the up arrow button to save the displayed frame.

-
Press the Live View/Playback button to resume playing the video clip.

|

Delete unwanted clips |
 |

Just like photography, videography has its fair share of misses. Follow these steps for deleting clips.

-
If your camera is in Instant Review, press the down arrow.

-
Select This Image from the Delete sub-menu.

-
Press Menu/OK.
