Details
The HP Photo Print Gadget with Smart Crop dramatically reduces the time and effort required to print photos on your HP Inkjet printer.
Installation and Setup
To install the Gadget, click on the the "Free Download" button above, save the Gadget file to your Windows Vista or Windows 7 desktop, double click on the Gadget file, and then click on the "Install" button.
During installation, the HP Photo Print Gadget will select your Windows default printer and automatically configure the correct print size, paper type, and paper tray to print a 4" x 6" borderless photo*. If you would like to view or change these default settings before you start printing, click on the up or down arrows, or click the options wrench as illustrated below. Changes you make on the options menu will be permanently saved until the next time you change them.
Click on the options button to open the options menu.
You can adjust your "photo size on paper size" at two locations.
Print Sizes
The HP Photo Print Gadget supports the following print sizes:
Printing
To print, simply drag and drop photos from anywhere on your PC to the HP Photo Print Gadget in your Windows Vista or Windows 7 Sidebar. The Gadget will then:
- Detect the orientation of your photos (portrait or landscape)
- Apply HP Smart Crop technology to ensure that your subject’s head is not cropped in landscape photos
- Send the photos to your printer
Tip: If you use more than one printer, you can run several Gadgets at once, each Gadget configured to print to a different printer.
Tagging
The HP Photo Print Gadget can tag your images with a descriptive identifier, so you can easily find these photos in your favorite photo organizer (like HP Photosmart Essentials, Windows Live™ Photo Gallery, or Adobe Photoshop Elements). The default tag is "HP Gadget Print". This XMP keyword tag can be changed or removed in the Gadget options menu, under the Settings tab. Note that tags are part of the data of your photo, and they can only be read in a photo organizer. Tags are not printed on the photo itself.
Supported File Types
The HP Photo Print Gadget can print .jpg, .bmp, .png, and .gif files only.
