HP scores a GOLDEN hat trick

Have you ever wondered what happens to all those ink cartridges that you return for recycling? Or where do the water bottles that you put into recycling containers end up?

Well here’s an answer; HPs closed loop recycling program!

Our closed loop recycling program takes cartridges returned through HP’s free Planet partners program, separates out the PET plastic and remixes them with plastic from drinking water bottles. We aimed to use 10 million pounds of plastic in 2008 by putting it back into new ink jet cartridge. This industry leading initiative garnered HP the first of 3 gold awards at this year’s Canadian environmental printing awards.

HPs most recent set of environmental awards recognized HP Canada for 3 distinct awards demonstrating the depth & breadth of HPs environmental commitment & validating that it is well on its way towards its goal of being the most environmentally responsible IT company.

HP’s second award is for work done in the commercial printing environment where HP has developed ink technology that eliminates the use of solvents – replacing them with a latex formula. HP’s Latex solutions have the power to truly transform printing shops by eliminating solvent emissions.

HP also received the award for most environmentally progressive vendor in Canada. This is awarded to a provider of technologies, processes or services to the printing industry based on a holistic strategy to lessen its harmful impact on the environment. HP was recognized for a broad portfolio from environmental education in JK to its partners & the Canadian public, to leadership in supply chain practices & a comprehensive climate change plan.
