I. INTRODUCTION
********************
HP Device Storage Manager is an application plug-in to
HP Web Jetadmin that provides the ability to manage fonts,
forms, and macros on supported HP printers.

This readme file contains detailed useful information regarding
HP Device Storage Manager that may not otherwise be available in
the HP Device Storage Manager online help or documentation.

***********************
II. RECENT INFORMATION
***********************

HP Device Storage Manager v. 2.9.3748 is an update of Device Storage
Manager that coincides with the Service Patch 5 (SP5) release for
HP Web Jetadmin 8.1.  Device Storage Manager will appear as such under
Product Update (for machines given HTTP access):

Bundle - HP Device Storage Manager Bundle - dsmbundle - 1.0.3748

It can also be manually downloaded from http://www.hp.com/go/wja_components
and uploaded into Product Update for installation.

Device Storage Manager is referred to as a bundle because it includes
some additional components to support color macros.

This update includes the following new functionality and\or fixes:

 1) bmp macros are expanded by DSM.
 2) Fonts and Macros can’t be downloaded to the device RAM.
 3) Error 7103 when writing to CF card.
 4) The “USB Drive” option doesn’t appear in the destination.
 5) DSM fonts and macros can’t be added more than once.
 6) Apache crash when downloading macros to CF Disk.
 7) Font types such as sfp and ttf cannot be downloaded to the printer.
 8) The Size column is wrongly displayed.
 9) When downloading macros, the destination drive is obtained by
the highlighted folder rather than the destination drop-down item.
10) Ability to print stored fax jobs (with pin).
11) Apache crashes appear when large numbers of fonts are downloaded.

Recent previous releases of Device Storage Manager included
the following new functionality and\or fixes:

  1) Downloading large amounts of fonts no longer hangs or aborts.
  2) Color information is no longer stripped out of macros.
  3) USB drives are supported as media for storing fonts.
  4) Fonts are no longer missing on printer after Device Storage
     Manager download.
  5) Stored Private Jobs can be deleted when the PIN is forgotten
or unknown.  Of course, remotely printing the Private Jobs will
require knowledge of the PIN.  Previously, initializing the disk
had to be used to delete stored Private Jobs when the PIN was
unknown or forgotten.  Now individual jobs can be removed
without having to delete all files.
  6) Performance has been improved when copying fonts and/or macros
     to Compact Flash.
  7) Compact flash can be selected as a destination for installing files
     on devices
  8) Bitmap files are no longer increased in size when installed on
     devices as macros
  9) Device Storage Manager no longer defaults to fonts folder, thus
     improving performance
 10) Printer resident fonts are now displayed in Device Storage Manager
as well as fonts added to printer DIMM, etc.
 11) Support has been added for .sfp and .otf font types
