Occasionally, HP
releases service patch updates for HP
Web Jetadmin to address issues experienced by our
customers. These updates are not a
full release of the software, rather, they include
updates of certain components.
Service patch 2 can be
downloaded as a small batch file and installed as an upgrade to an existing
HP Web Jetadmin 8.0 installation. In addition, the full HP Web Jetadmin 8.0 installation file on the HP Web site will shortly
be rolling from version 8.0.3366 to 8.0.3470 to include service patch
2. Therefore, all HP Web Jetadmin downloads will already include service patch
2, and an additional installation of service patch 2 will not be required
for those installations.
If it is uncertain
whether service patch 2 has been installed on an existing HP Web Jetadmin 8.0 installation, check the version under
Help, HP Web Jetadmin, About in the navigation
tree. The following build numbers
represent the possible versions of HP Web Jetadmin
8.0 that can be installed:
8.0.3366 -
HP Web Jetadmin 8.0
8.0.3418 -
HP Web Jetadmin 8.0 service patch 1
8.0.3450 -
HP Web Jetadmin 8.0 service patch 2
(initial release)
8.0.3470 -
HP Web Jetadmin 8.0 service patch 2 (performance
fix)
NOTE: An initial release of service patch 2,
version 8.0.3450, contained an issue concerning the potential to not
receive some toner low threshold alerts for printers previously subscribed
to those alerts (using the EWS mechanism).
It also caused the All Devices list to display more slowly. Version 8.0.3470 of SP2 has since been
released to resolve these issues as well as others.
Installation
Unlike previous service
patches, due to the complexity of this particular patch, it is being
provided as a batch (executable) file update only, rather than an .fpm file
update, to ensure installation success.
Product Update inside HP Web Jetadmin will
not be used for installation if this service patch. To install service patch 2, download the
file named wja80_releasepatch2_bundle_winrel_3470.exe to a location on the
hard drive of the pc where HP Web Jetadmin 8.0 is
currently running. Launch a command
prompt, type the name of the patch file, and hit enter. Once the command prompt returns, service
patch 2 is installed and a browser can be used to launch HP Web Jetadmin.
